Welcome to Gautier, Mississippi!

The gracious homestead that Fernando Gautier established in 1867 at the mouth of the Pascagoula River Basin still stands, a hallmark of the city that now bears his name. The roots and pride of the citizens of Gautier are as deep as the stately live oaks that line more than 70 miles of waterfront in this unique city on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. From Gulf of Mexico breezes to the twists and turns of the inland bayous, the natural beauty and quality of life in Gautier beckon modern day “settlers” to enjoy the serenity and amenities Gautier has to offer.

Mayor Ken Taylor and the Gautier City Council welcome your interest in the City of Gautier, one of the fastest growing communities in Mississippi along the Gulf Coast. Whether you are considering locating a business or other development, or seeking a community to call “home”, we know you will find Gautier offers the best business climate and quality of life for your family, employees and business development. This guidebook includes demographic and economic data about Gautier and Jackson County we hope you will find of interest.

In February, 2002, the City of Gautier completed its annexation process, which triples the size of our city to an area of 32 square miles. Our new population is estimated to be between 17,500 (2000 census data) and 19,500 (according to 2002 postal counts and utility company statistics). Gautier is centrally located between Pascagoula (the largest industrial area of Mississippi with thousands of high-paying manufacturing jobs), and the Biloxi-Gulfport area (with a high concentration of tourism related jobs, many in the gaming industry).

Our traffic count on Highway 90 near the city center is over 37,000 automobiles per day, and is 45,000 on Interstate 10 within city limits. Gautier boasts a four-year university program, a community college, and a regional 600,000 square foot shopping mall. We attract retirees and families alike because of our two excellent 18-hole golf courses, state park and festivals, senior citizens center, and new gated residential areas.

Please know that the City of Gautier pledges our support to ensure our city would be a viable and profitable location for your company, and a great place to bring your family!
